The Alcove Mission
The Alcove is a safe place where children and their families, who are grieving a death, can receive comfort and support through the healing process.
Children & Family Night of Service
Children and Family Nights are on-going sessions that meet every other week from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. The groups are facilitated by trained volunteers using a peer-support model. This service is open to children & teens between the ages of 3-18 who have experienced the death of a loved one. These evening sessions allow children to explore grief through fun, theme-based activities, and sharing circles. Pizza dinner is provided.
Tender Living Care (TLC)
Peer support groups for children & teens, ages 3-18, who have an adult caregiver who has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Support groups will also be available for the adult caregiver who is ill, and another group for any other adult in the home. Groups will meet monthly. Pizza dinner will be provided.
School Outreach Program
These groups are conducted in schools in high risk areas where the children have difficulties attending group in our Northfield facility. The groups are facilitated by an MSW Social Worker and meet for 6-8 weeks. The groups provide grief support and education. Fun, age-appropriate activities provide children/teens with a safe environment in which to explore the many thoughts and feelings associated with grief.
Adult Grief Groups
Adult Grief Groups, for adults 19 years of age and older, meet every other week from 6:00pm until 7:00pm. The groups are facilitated by trained volunteers.
All of the above services are offered at no cost.
Individual and Family Therapy
Therapy is specific to grief and loss issues. All therapeutic services will be rendered by licensed professionals.
Corporate Outreach
Outreach service to businesses and organizations affected by death.
