Bereavement Peer Support Groups

The Alcove offers activity-based peer support for children, teens and adult caregivers who are grieving the death of a loved one.

Our Grief and Loss Family Nights of Service happen biweekly on Thursdays for children (ages 3 & up) and adults who have experienced a death of a loved one.

Our Loss of Spouse/Partner Peer Support Group happens biweekly on Tuesdays for adults who have experienced the death of significant other.

Our Loss from Addiction group happens biweekly on Tuesdays for adults who have experienced a death due to addiction.

Domestic Violence Peer Support Group

The Alcove offers activity-based peer support groups for children (ages 3 &up) and adults who are survivors of domestic violence. These groups occur biweekly on Thursday nights.

School Outreach Programs (Grief Groups and Trauma Groups)

Peer support groups conducted in schools in high risk areas for children unable to attend group at our  Center. Fun, age-appropriate activities provide children/teens with a safe environment in which to explore the many thoughts and feelings associated with grief and trauma. The groups are facilitated by an MSW Social Worker and provides grief support and education. This group meets for 6-8 weeks.

Individual and Family Therapy

The Alcove offers individual and family therapy for those working through feelings associated with grief and loss, trauma, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. All therapeutic services will be rendered by licensed professionals.

We offer in-person and virtual therapy services.

Visitation Program

The Alcove provides two types of visitations decided by the authorizing entity.  All visitations will be documented and a closing summary will be provided to requesting authority.

Supervised Visitation

Supervised visitation is where an appointed staff member will act as a monitor to assure the safety of all individuals.  The monitor will allow the parent and child to bond in a safe and nurturing environment.

Therapeutic Visitation

Therapeutic visitation is supervised by a professional monitor.  The professional is seen as part of your family treatment team providing insight, best practice, education and information to the family during the visit.
